The children available for sponsorship are all from the most impoverished backgrounds. Sponsorship gives you the chance to share and better a child's life. Your donation contributes to a full program of education, nutrition, social services and support. You'll receive detailed information and photos and have the chance to become a valuable mentor, pen-pal and friend. Communication with your sponsored child starts immediately after you enroll. The links it can create and build can become something precious and inspiring in the child's life and in your own.
Child Sponsorship (From age 6 and older) (US $100 a month or $1,200 a year)
Children in ACO's regular child sponsorship program are drawn from 2 main groups: they are our identified students s or they may live with their own families and communities. All of them are in full-time education programs and in ACO's overall care, which extends to their nutrition, health care and safety. The children in our school, all of whom also return home in the evening, currently make up the majority of this category. All of them are enrolled in public school, and their education in our English school. Although residential opportunities are necessarily increasingly limited, the need for the help that sponsorship can bring is not. ACO has addressed this issue by extending the reach of the sponsorship program to include children living in the community who meet specific criteria. They must be in ACO's full time education program, where ACO is responsible for their public school education (including, but not limited to, costs of study materials, travel, uniforms, school registration & liaison) and be an active student in one of ACO's English schools. They must also not be supported by any other organization, and they must not be working. Where necessary, ACO will provide the child's family with temporary support, especially where the child's entry into ACO's programs means that the family will lose an income source or otherwise be financially hurt by, for example, the loss of the means of caring for younger children while parents are working. Once a sponsorship is established for any child, sponsors are provided with background information and photographs of their sponsored child as well as the opportunity to communicate with the child. For many, this quickly becomes the most crucial and rewarding aspect of the sponsorship. Facilitated by ACO's team of translators and well supervised, sponsors and sponsored can communicate with each other via email, get to know each other & become a real part of each other's lives. Every child, facility or community, benefits from ACO's comprehensive packages of education and support.
