Orphanage Project

Dependent on funding, our vital future opportunities may get involved with: (Orphanage Project, School site enlargement, Recreational Area, Fish-farming, Vegetable Farming, Poultry, Designing & Tailoring skill, Scholarship, Khmer Living Art, Community Drinking Water Station, Small Business Help Loan, and Medical Care and Attention to our children).We needs your help in providing a loving and nurturing environment for our children’s in need. In order to establish the orphanage we need facilities to house and care for them. It's our initial goal to provide the five most necessities such as (shelter, food, clothing, education and Healthcare) to the most neediness of our children. It's our intention to eventually provide the following facilities at our orphanage. It composes of 8 rooms. Our basic information as states below:

Orphanage: (3 rooms) “children’s dormitories and our foreign volunteer or staff’s dormitory”.

Education: (4 rooms) “English classroom + Library + Computer class & Internet proficiency and another room is for Khmer Living Art.”

Administration: (1 room) “Directing office”. This is our first plan, but our funding is not sufficient to fulfill this whole project. That's why we all decided to construct our school which composes of 4 rooms are served for (English Class + Computer Class + Directing Office and Library). This is our current opportunities. Now, we are constructing a school "Angkor Charity School" for our students and identified local orphaned children. The school which composes of 4 Rooms which have different function: (English Class that can provide our students of foreign language skill & cultural exchange + Computer Center which can give them vocational computer training that enables them to receive the basic general computer skills and Internet Access + Library for our children and all staffs so that enables them to do their research and improve their study and professional teaching skills and another room is served as Directory for all our staffs). Right now, we have lack of funding to fulfill our school. Now, we desperately need (cement, sand, tile-floor, toilet-materials, electricity system, running water, Internet Medias, extra-ceiling, labor-fee and paint…etc). Orphanage Need

The extra facilities which we need the most at the orphanage as follow such as (running water, bed, blanket, mat, clothes, pillow, towels, tooth-paste, tooth-brush, shampoo, mosquito-net, cushion, wardrobe and bathroom…. for all local identified children).

Education Need  

The school supplies materials needed: (textbook, workbook, white-board/marker, pictures, chair, desk, school bag, uniform, shoes, sandals, pen, pencil and pencil-sharpener...for Education).

Other Need

We also need food, water, kitchenware, kitchen's appliance, table and stuffs. These facilities are to be constructed on my own property for the sole purpose of providing for these children and their education. Should you decide to donate toward the orphanage, your money will be used as you direct. You can donate toward specific items such as school-supplies, uniforms...etc or you may elect to have the organization director allocates it toward the most immediate need. Should you donate toward specific items such as bathroom, electricity, you may elect to give your input on how you would like the facility constructed (material, style...etc). School-Site Enlargement

The school site-enlargement should be enlarged for some significant charity purposes as follow Bigger Space: It is good for Recreational Area for our identified children, public seminars with The Teacher-Parents Association, occasional party for staffs and children and for parking lots…. It also enables us to construct our annex building for the future plan. Better Environment: We can grow more trees and some kinds of home-grown fruits and vegetables which offer food to our children. We can raise poultry and fish-farming that enables to sustain basic daily life need of our children.

Recreational Area

It is one of the direst needs in our project. It is good for our children at Angkor Charity School.

Poultry

Chickens - don't plan on spending a night in Cambodia without expecting to hear a rooster crowing in the morning. Chickens are easy to raise, are excellent foragers and are a good source of protein. ACO is planning to raise poultry in our site in the future. At $7.00 / kilogram, and there are several chickens per kilogram, you can make it possible for our school to start raising our own poultry. In addition to being a source of protein through both the eggs and meat, poultry is also a source of revenue through the marketing of the excess stock raised.

Fish-Farming

In the near future ACO will have a program of supplying the initial fish and food to enable our school to raise fish. The program is based on the principles and practices already in place in Cambodia. The Siem Reap region has one of the richest fresh water fish populations in the world; the problem is having access to catch them and having the resources to raise them during the dry season. Vegetable

Reforestation

Cambodia is one of the nations in the globe to-day. It is really rich in natural resources such as are: (rich-fertile soil for agriculture, red  and alluvial soil for planting rubber and most kinds of vegetable, fish in Tonle Sap, gems in Pailin (north-western zone of Cambodia to-day) and dense forest. Unluckily, most of Cambodian forest were already cut off and burned seriously during the bloody civil war (1979-1993) and recent activity for own private interest and dire need. Small Business Help Loan  

The old adage states: Give a starving man food to-day and he will be hungry again tomorrow, but teach him to fish, and he will learn to feed himself.Our Small Business HELP Loan helps people help themselves. We don't believe in handouts, we prefer "hand-ups". Taking a very low-interest loan, 1.5% per month, means poor people have the chance to turn their lives around without the fear of loan sharks – who charge 10% interest per month - breathing down their necks.

We interview anyone interested in getting a HELP Loan so that we can work with them in planning their business. We forecast the commercial aspect and gauge the commitment of the applicants. To be eligible for the HELP Loan they need to submit their business plan and get approval first. The HELP Loan funds a new start, a renewed independence and, for many, their first real taste of the discipline of money management. We provide loans of $100 or less, a tiny amount by western standards but enough in Cambodia to get people on their feet and get a business going. Through our HELP Loans people have become watermelon, cucumber and corn farmers, oil lamp sellers, and meat, fruit and vegetable vendors.

Community Leadership Program

Great leaders emerge from all manner of backgrounds, all walks of life, and it's no different for the young people at ACO. Our Community Leadership Program, created in 2010, nurtures and develops the leadership skills of our older students, preparing them to become leaders in their communities long after they've left ACO. The goal of this four-year practical and theoretical program is to make our students capable of creating real change as adults in their society. The program involves students solving real problems of domestic violence and sexual abuse using the curriculum, which covers communication, dealing with conflict, public speaking, civil law, human rights, empathy, gender rights, nutrition and tolerance.

Community Drinking Water Station   

ACO will facilitate water supply for drinking and daily use to some 165 children and community people who come to learn at our center. This will help to reduce expenditure on drinking water, eliminate water born diseases and generally improve health and hygiene. Clean water is one of the most basic needs for human survival. Having clean water from a reliable source not only allows our students to have water for cooking and drinking but also allows for bathing and laundry, all of which reduces the causes of disease and illness. In addition to better health and hygiene, our students will have the opportunity to plant vegetables that do not rely on seasonal flooding for irrigation. These vegetables create a more balanced diet and create an economic opportunity by enabling the school to sell excess produce at the market.
